Eid Al-Adha

Soon will begin the Festival of the Sacrifice (Eid Al-Adha) mimicking Father Abraham as Muslims around the world will sacrifice an animal and give the meat to the ”poor”.  In the one-day period millions of animals will be slaughtered around the world.  These animal sacrifices are typically sheep but can be as large as a cow or a camel.  Last week Mike’s friend, Abu Yaqoub (the father of Yaqoub), called to say this year he was going to slaughter a cow.  He wanted to know if Mike knew any qualified butchers who could slaughter and prepare his animal.  Abu Yaqoub had a picture of his purchased bovine beast!  He even asked which cut Mike wanted!  In the absence of “the poor”, Muslims may share the meat of the sacrificial animal with friends and neighbors.

The perceived value of the sacrifice is greater the larger and more costly the animal. In the past year, Mike’s friend and his family had Covid-19. They all survived, but his wife had been extremely ill.  He is expressing gratitude to God in his sacrifice.  Sadly, Abu Yaqoub and his family have heard the Gospel, but continue to reject the ultimate, most costly Sacrifice.  Oh, once Abu Yaqoub’s sacrifice has been slaughtered it will never live again, unlike the Great Sacrifice, our Christ!

 Prayer Requests

• Pray for Muslims all over the UAE who will be slaughtering animals the next few days to be touched by the Holy Spirit and hear, understand, and accept the Gospel of Christ.

• Pray for Muslims to grasp how valueless their attempt is in the animal sacrifice to pay for their own bad works and recognize that only the blood of Jesus can cover their sin so that they can be presented pure and blameless before God.
