Does Life Have Meaning?

Blinking lights of the Burj al Khalifa collide with the disorienting colors filling Mark’s mind from his last acid trip as he tried to escape the meaningless existence he felt. Life is easier to deal with when intoxicated or high.  There are less nagging questions to answer. 

Mark moved to Dubai from New Zealand in developmental projects. He was chasing after the thrills and allure of a city where he could work hard to be successful and then spend a lot of his earnings on different drugs, drinking and clubs.  

Mark was raised by his grandmother after his parents abandoned him, his mother physically and dad emotionally. When his grandmother got sick, he started trying to deal with his pain by getting high on cheese whiz cans. It was just the beginning of  a life of drug abuse.   

He started searching on YouTube for the meaning of life and that’s where he found the idea of everyone creating their own reality.  To Mark there is no morality or justice. It’s just working in companies long enough to earn the money to the escape his own mind and to make sense of a world filled with pain.  

 Prayer Requests

• Pray for those like Mark to recognize that they are seeking pleasure and satisfaction that can’t be found except in a relationship with Jesus. 

• Pray that believing colleagues, neighbors, and friends will be burdened and bold to reach out with the Hope that they have found.
